Sandy –
Are there any reviews from Celiacs out there that have purchased the “Low Gluten Communion Bread” and can comment on this? I am thinking about ordering but very nervous, I don’t want to get sick. Thank you.
Sisters –
Dear Sandy,
I understand your concern, we don’t want you to get sick either. Our Low Gluten hosts contain less than .001% gluten or 10 parts per million. We have a lot of people that receive our low gluten hosts with no side effects. We would like for you to check with your Dr. before consuming to make sure it is alright with him/her. We do have a sample pack that is free of charge for you to try before going to church. We have people that also cut the host in half or quarters to receive less gluten.
Please contact me at 1-800-223-2772 if you have any further questions.
Blessings,
Tabitha
Steve –
I’ve been using the Benedictine Sisters LG breads for almost seven years and have never had any problems with a reaction or digestion. Make sure to check with your doctor before using, since those with celiac have a wide range of tolerances to gluten. From the customer perspective, the Sisters ordering process is very easy, the breads are usually shipped the same day of the order and arrive very quickly via U.S. Postal Service First Class Mail. Thank you to the Sisters of allowing me to received Holy Communion on a daily basis!!
Pr. Lisa Schuster –
Our church has one member with Celiac disease and several others who are gluten intolerant. We’ve used the LG Communion bread for 5 years without any problems.

I have celiac disease and these hosts have worked wonderfully for me! I cannot identify any symptoms that have come from consuming Holy Communion under the form of this low-gluten communion bread.
I’m so grateful to the Benedictine Sisters for providing this product!

THANK YOU, sisters, for providing this low gluten bread. I am now able to receive the Eucharist several times a week. I am a very sensitive celiac and have never experienced any side effects. Thank you for your love, care, and diligence that makes it possible for celiacs to receive the Lord’s Supper
James Kent –
Question on your Low Gluten Communion Bread … are the hosts individually wrapped or together in a one bag/box?
Thank you in advance.
In Christ, Pastor Jim Kent
Sisters –
Dear James,
Sorry, we have been neglecting to check our comment section about low gluten and we have not replied sooner. The hosts come 30 in a bag so they are not individually wrapped.

Annette –
I just need to find out the ingredients, as I have one son with a SEVERE wheat allergy, not celiac. So it cannot be the gluten-free wheat starch, or he will in up in the ER. Thank you.
Sisters –
Dear Annette,
Our ingredients are wheat starch that has most of the gluten removed and water. Our breads have tested to be <.001% gluten or 10ppm. Hope this helps. Sr. Ruth

My son was diagnosed with celiac disease when he was in Kindergarten. He has been using these specific low-gluten hosts since his First Holy Communion two years later and he is now in 7th grade. His bloodwork is great, he is very careful and very sensitive. In five years he’s been fine using these weekly (although several months this year Mass was only online). We can strongly recommend!
You don’t have to take our word for it – the science backs this up, too! Although there is a trace amount of gluten that can still come through, it is well under the standards and the fact that the host is so small makes it even safer to consume.
God Bless & Stay Well!
P.S. We keep these in a container in the freezer and take one out before mass for my son’s pyx each week.
